Many flight attendants like myself are excited about the new show “Pan Am” that premiered this past Sunday on ABC. It’s fun to see how much air travel has changed the past several decades, with everything these days being much more casual.
That said, I see on planes how passengers still enjoy being pampered like they were back in the day. That’s what motivated me to start making the PamBee travel blanket set: to help bring back a little bit of the style and luxury from those Pan Am days while providing what they need to get some restful sleep.
My friend Joanne was a Pan Am stewardess during it’s heyday, and she was kind enough to let me post some of the photos she has collected over the years. Thanks Joanne!

Joanne’s Pan Am stewardess class, January 1967. How fabulous they look!

Love this photo of a flight attendant in the engine! Obviously these days
this isn’t allowed because of stricter security!

All of these ladies were from different countries…how cool!

I was also at PanAm training in Jan 1967 but not in this class, however I must have overlapped with Joanne. Would love to get in touch with her.

Hi Jan,
My class started in December 1966 and we graduated in January 1967. My name was Joanne Parrish. Are you on Facebook? If so look up Crew Party Pan Am and ask to join the group. We all have such fun talking to each other in that closed group.
If you are not on Facebook, my e-mail is flynn@ameliabullock.com
Talk with you soon.

I feel like part of a big family. It has been a long time; but the memories seem fresh in my mind, however there are so many it could certainly fill a book. I hope that somebody comes up with a new series or may be a movie. Something that people can understand. The life of a flight attendant moves so fast, it seems too fast for people not in that field.

To any former Pan Am hostess here,
This message may seem to come out of the blue, but I am in the process of writing my second book and one of my characters is a Pan Am air hostess in the sixties. I am British and did in fact apply for a job as a hostess in 1965 or 66. I was within a month of setting off to Miami for the training and changed my mind. I have been living in Egypt for 35 years, after a long varied life. The reason for my writing here is to ask if anyone would be willing to help me with some information regarding being a Pan Am hostess – the training, experience etc. etc. If you can help, you would of course receive a credit in the book, should you so desire. I am including here my website address so that you can see that I am bona fide – http://www.rosemary-sabet.com
With best regards,
Rosemary Sabet
